After the Shakedown Test and the Official Test in Malaysia, the Aprilia racer duo was in the spotlight because the two Aprilia drivers successfully performed fast in these two events.
On a final day in which only ten riders took to the Malaysian asphalt, Aleix Espargaró managed to stay on top with a personal time of 1:58,371 seconds. Riding his Aprilia RS-GP, the Spaniard was unable to beat the official best time (by Fabio Quartararo in 2019) by a margin of 0.068 seconds.
Closing the Spanish 'podium' was Alex Rins with the athlete Suzuki just a tenth of a second behind Espargaró, with a time of 1:58.471 seconds.
Seeing this, last season's world champion, Fabio Quartararo was amazed by the rapid progress of the Aprilia factory team. He was even forced to admit that the corner sector, which is the mainstay of the Yamaha riders, made the Japanese manufacturer stronghold.
Quartararo who won a position in the time table also gave his appreciation to the black team from Italy. “If you check the top speed, the RS-GP is very fast. I was behind Aleix lap laps and a lot of corners. I am impressed with them. For me Aprilia, Honda and Suzuki made big steps," he said as quoted by Visordown.
“Ducati has been super fast at the end of the season. But the three that impressed me more were Aprilia, Honda and Suzuki."
